Turkey Chili
Ingredients
- 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg) 41187 Readyfoods Pulled Turkey Breast – Plain or 41471 Butterball Semi-Boneless Turkey Roast (cooked)
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) Vegetable Oil
- 1/2 lb (250 g) Onions, diced
- 4 cloves Garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) Chili powder
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) Oregano, dried
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) Cumin
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) Smoked, paprika
- 2 tsp (10 mL) Cinnamon
- 3 cups (750 mL) Chicken broth, prepared, sodium reduced preferred
- 6 cups (1.5 L) Tomatoes, canned, diced, undrained
- 3/4 cup (375 mL) Tomato paste, canned
- 2.2 lbs (1kg) Mixed Bean Medley, frozen
Directions
- Cut cooked turkey into bite-sized pieces.
- Heat oil in a large stock pot. Saute onions and garlic on low-medium heat.
- Add chili powder, oregano, cumin, paprika and cinnamon, stirring to coat and become aromatic.
- Add cooked turkey, broth, diced tomatoes, tomato paste and bean medley.
- Simmer chili on medium heat until thick, approximately 30 minutes or until internal temperature is 165°F (74°C).
- Serve with optional garnishes such as sour cream and/or chopped green onions.
